Jason R. Keifer, MD

Dr. Jason Keifer is the founder of Brain Health Hawaii. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Southern California and his psychiatry residence at the University of California San Diego. He completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. Dr. Keifer is board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and General Psychiatry.

As a Clinical Professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, Dr. Keifer focuses on brain health and development, systems thinking, and outcome oriented treatments. As director of training seminars, he supervises medical residents and clinicians in techniques that involve a wide spectrum of childhood, adolescent, and adult conditions.

Dr. Keifer’s background and expertise in neuromodulation, neurophysiology, medicine, psychiatry, brain development and sleep-brain dynamics form the foundation of Brain Health Hawaii’s methods and program. His clinical outcomes treating athletic concussions and military PTSD has garnered national attention. Dr. Keifers work also helps professional athletes and business executives achieve optimal brain health and high-level performance.

Erik Shipley, M.D.

Erik M. Shipley holds a Doctorate of Medicine from St George’s University School of Medicine and completed his Residency in Psychiatry at the University of Illinois. He recently completed fellowship training for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Hawaii.

In addition to his work with Brain Health Hawaii, he also works at the Kahala Clinic for Children and Family.

Experienced in Outpatient and Inpatient Psychiatry, Dr. Shipley provides holistic and comprehensive care in all major domains of psychiatric pathology including Depressive and Bipolar Disorders, Anxiety, Spectrum Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, Trauma Disorders, Eating Disorders, Psychotic Disorders and Personality Disorders.

As a clinician, Dr. Shipley incorporates advanced brain health techniques into his practice to enhance people’s well-being while promoting enduring outcomes.

Dr. Shipley received both the Commonwealth Award and the Patient Services Award from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Fluent in both English and Japanese, he enjoys rock climbing, soccer, spending time with his family and helping his neighbors with house work.

Jason Patel, M.D.

Dr. Patel was formerly a Chief-Fellow in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Hawaii’s John A Burns School of Medicine. Prior to that, Dr. Patel served as a resident physician in general psychiatry at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.

He completed a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland investigating the relationship between the gut and brain in human and animal models.

He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychosomatic Society and the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Jason Patel received his Doctor of Medicine from Saba University School of Medicine in the Caribbean and his Bachelor of Science with Honors from the University of Toronto specializing in molecular biology.

Chad Imanaka, M.D.

Dr. Chad Imanaka was raised in Hilo on the Big Island where he has experience serving as a Telehealth Psychiatrist with the West Hawaii Community Health Center, offering remote rural psychiatric care to underserved communities. Formerly, he served as a Resident Physician with the Psychiatry Hawaii Residency Program at Queens Medical Center.

He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine, where he also completed his General Psychiatry Residency and the ‘Imi Ho‘ola Post Baccalaureate Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Loyola Marymount University.

Dr. Imanaka is also passionate about holistic healing and is a Reiki Level II Practitioner who loves spending time with his family, fishing, photography and yoga.

Dr. Anil Rama is the founder and director of Brain Health Hawaii’s affiliate office, Sleep and Brain, in Saratoga, California, which helps people optimize sleep and mental performance.

Dr. Rama serves as Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the Stanford Center for Sleep Sciences and Medicine. He is the recipient of the 2021 Stanford Distinguished Service Award, awarded to one clinical faculty member per year.

As the former Medical Director of Kaiser Permanente’s tertiary sleep medicine laboratory, Dr. Rama serves as an editorial board member of the “Sleep Science and Practice Journal” and has authored several book chapters and seminal peer-reviewed journal articles in sleep medicine.

Dr. Rama is also a lecturer for the Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency at the University of Pacific at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

In addition, Dr. Rama is on the medical advisory board for Fullpower®-AI and is an investigator in clinical trials for drugs or devices designed to improve sleep and contributed to stories in national newspapers, local news stations, wellness websites, and health newsletters.

John D Franzen, M.D.

Dr. Franzen is board certified in psychiatry and is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Additionally, he is board certified in addiction medicine and is a diplomat of the American Board of Preventative Medicine. He completed his residency training at the University of Hawaii and at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center. During his training he was involved in neuroscience research at UNMC which utilized magnetoencephalography (MEG) and explored the neural underpinnings of psychiatric related disorders. Dr. Franzen has helped start and develop multiple addiction treatment programs with his previous work at other healthcare organizations.

Dr. Franzen has a special interest in addiction medicine and sports performance enhancement.

Jeremy Creekmore is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Brain Treatment Specialist at Brain Health Hawaii.

He also operates a private practice focusing on medication management for people across the lifespan.

Jeremy earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Arizona and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hawaii Pacific University’s College of Nursing.

Prior to joining Brain Health Hawaii, Jeremy worked as an assistant professor at Chaminade University of Honolulu while continuing to operate his private practice.

Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, he worked as a registered nurse at The Queen’s Medical Center’s Family Treatment Center, at Kahi Mohala and at Benchmark Behavior Health System.

Jeremy is the current president of the Hawaii Association of Professional Nurses and is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Previously, he served as the Safety Champion for the Family Treatment Center Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program at Queens Medical Center and on the Leadership Committee at Benchmark Behavior Health System.

He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau’s Beta Mu chapter and Gamma Psi at large.

In 2020, he received The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Faculty from Chaminade University. In 2022, he received the Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence from MEDEX, the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Tracy Ingram

Tracy Ingram, APRN, is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Brain Health Hawaii where she offers medication management, psychotherapy, and rTMS treatments.

She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Arizona specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. During her clinical training, she was mentored in the Self-Care Recovery Program for Sexual Health and completed the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Training. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hawaii Pacific University.

In addition, Tracy practices as a Psychiatric APRN caring for the residential adolescent population at Kahi Mohala. She spent many years at Kahi Mohala under various RN roles, which include working with military service members and veterans with PTSD and sexual trauma. She is also a Clinical Adjunct Faculty at Chaminade University School of Nursing. Previously, Tracy worked at Ohana Community Care Services (CCS) as an RN Behavioral Health Care Manager and an RN Service Coordinator for United Healthcare Community Plan.

She served on the planning committee for the Hawaii Art and Mental Health Summit, partnering with Mental Health America of Hawaii, Hawaii Arts Alliance, and NAMI Hawaii. She participates in the Pacific Regional Behavioral Health Alliance meetings.

Bradley Kuo is a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

He is the CEO and provider for Wellness Partners Hawaii, a telemental health clinic, in partnership with Brain Health Hawaii.

Bradley holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University, a Post Master Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Hawai’i, a Masters of Education in Counseling from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Olaf College.

Bradley’s vision includes seeking out more mental health providers to meet the growing need and awareness of mental health issues in the lives of the community members around us.

Bringing awareness to and decreasing the stigma of mental health is important to Bradley and important to Wellness Partners Hawaii, Inc.

Bradley received the 2021 American Association of Nurse Practitioners State Award for Excellence.

In 2020, he received the Hawaii Association of Professional Nurses Leadership Award and Outstanding Advance Practice Registered Nurse of the Year for The Queen’s Health System.
