Peak performance and enhancing quality of life is his passion: “The earlier a child, adolescent, or adult enhances the most important ‘muscle’ in the body, the brain, the sooner he or she can perform the best they can, and be the happiest, healthy person they can be.”

Dr. Keifer founded Brain Health Hawaii with the goal of helping people to live their best lives. He has gained wide expertise over the past years in medicine, brain health and development, and personalized repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation.  Dr. Keifer’s personalized methodology that is customized to each person’s unique brain is well regarded by pro athletes, business professionals, our nation’s warfighters, veterans, and other community members who seek optimum health and high-level performance.

Dr. Keifer received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine; completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Southern California and psychiatry residency at the University of California San Diego. Following his residency, Dr. Keifer elected further training and completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.  Dr. Keifer actively pursues the most effective methods and technology for the people he works with. He continues to work closely with brain, sleep and neurology specialists at the University of California San Diego and Stanford to ensure ongoing enhancement of our nation leading program.

Prior to opening his private practice in 2008, Dr. Keifer was the clinical director at the Leeward Oahu and Honolulu Family Guidance Centers, Hawaii State Department of Health. He also served as a physician for the men and women serving in the U.S. Army at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where he gained a deeper understanding of the stressors that our military members encounter.

In 2016, Dr. Keifer co-founded The Kahala Clinic for Children & Family, where he offers a comprehensive, solution and outcomes-focused approaches to people of all ages, kids and adults.

Dr. Keifer champions brain health and development, systems thinking and outcome oriented training for doctors-in-training as a Clinical Professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine. As director of training seminars, he supervises medical residents and clinicians in techniques on a wide spectrum of childhood, adolescent, and adult conditions. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Association of Family Psychiatrists, and Clinical TMS Society.

Dr. Keifer currently lives on Oahu with his wife and children, and practices at the Kahala Clinic for Children and Family and Brain Health Hawaii.
